A new service to offer

Add Restorative Yoga to the classes you already teach

In the United States, about one adult in four lives with chronic pain: in a class of ten, two or three students may be living with ongoing pain. Others arrive tired, or find it hard to settle. Some students need more support than a standard setup provides, whether or not they tell you why. This training teaches you to observe the body in stillness and adapt the props accordingly.

A graduate’s example

Floriane, a graduate of the 60-hour certification, now teaches one Restorative Yoga class a week, and a workshop once a month.

See what other graduates have put into practice

What you can offer

  • A supported pose at the end of the classes you already teach.
  • A weekly Restorative Yoga class.
  • A workshop or a short series.
  • Private sessions, starting from an intake interview.

What your students receive

  • A body fully supported, with no effort to hold a shape.
  • An adaptation when the usual setup does not suit their body.
  • Time in stillness, guided by your voice and by silence.

What makes this training different

Depth

Each pose is studied in full: who it suits, how to set it up step by step, how to adapt it, what to observe and how to guide its relaxation.

Precision

You learn where each prop goes and why, and how to read a student who is lying still, so you know what to adjust.

The physiology of rest

The nervous system, the breath, fascia and pain are explained in words you can pass on to a student. When a mechanism is still a working model, Audrey tells you so.

Teaching real students

Certification rests on what you do with three students of your own, from their first session to the follow-up call.

Text & media

The two modules

Practice first, then learn to teach

The pathway joins two complementary modules. The first builds your own practice. The second teaches you to guide a whole class and a private session.

Module 1 · 20 hours

Restorative Yoga: The Foundations

Build a consistent personal practice, understand the principles behind supported rest, and learn to integrate a Restorative Yoga pose into your yoga classes.

Practicing each pose yourself helps you understand how it feels before learning to set it up, adapt it and guide others.

  • A personal practice of twenty minutes a day, built week by week.
  • The props, and what to use when one is missing.
  • The physiology of rest and the role of the breath.
  • Six essential supported postures, each with its guided relaxation: Salamba Savasana, Supta Baddha Konasana, Salamba Matsyasana, Instant Maui, Jathara Parivartanasana and Adho Mukha Savasana.
  • Integrating a Restorative Yoga pose into the classes you already teach.

Available the day you enroll. Six weeks is the suggested rhythm, and your access lasts well beyond it.

Module 2 · 40 hours

Restorative Yoga: The Art of Doing Nothing

Learn to build, adapt and guide a complete class, and to work with one student at a time.

  • Twenty-four supported postures taught across five chapters: forty-five-degree poses, backbends, inversions, twists and forward bends, and Savasana variations.
  • Adapting and sequencing, with a sixty-minute sequencing practicum.
  • The intake interview before a class or a private session.
  • Structuring a group class and a private session.
  • Guiding relaxation: the five koshas, language, voice, rhythm and silence.
  • Observing your students and adjusting the props.

Opens in May 2027. It builds on the setups and the daily practice of Module 1.

What is included

Both modules, thirty supported poses, two individual sessions and the certification assessment.

A Module 2 video lesson on a laptop and a page of the theory PDF on a tablet

  • Video lessons and demonstrations for both modules.
  • Seven guided relaxations in Module 1, and a full guided relaxation inside every pose recording of Module 2.
  • Four bonus practices in Module 1, on Ahimsa and Tapas from the eight limbs of yoga: two 90-minute classes and two 30-minute practices.
  • The Blanket Folding Diagram, weekly sequences and an end-of-module quiz in Module 1.
  • A written workbook for Module 2, with its exercises, your practice log and your body maps, and the theory of each chapter as a PDF with the slides.
  • A question space attached to the lessons, where Audrey answers.
  • Two individual 90-minute sessions with Audrey, live by video, during Module 2.
  • Three years of access to each module, counted from the day it opens to you.
  • The certification assessment: Audrey reviews your report, and the assessment is included in the price.

Audrey’s book, The Teacher’s Guide to Restorative Yoga, is sold separately.

Text & media

From enrollment to certification

Each module stays available for three years from its opening date. Certification has separate deadlines: both individual sessions must be completed within 12 months of Module 2 opening, and your report is due within four months of finishing Module 2.

  1. 1

    The day you enroll

    Module 1 opens

The Foundations, 20 hours. Six weeks is the suggested rhythm, with twenty minutes of practice a day.

  2. 2

    May 2027

    Module 2 opens

The Art of Doing Nothing, 40 hours, for everyone enrolled in the certification.

  3. 3

Within 12 months of Module 2 opening to you

    Your two individual sessions

Ninety minutes each with Audrey, by video. If you enroll before May 2027, you have until the end of May 2028.

  4. 4

Within four months of finishing Module 2

    Your report, then your certification

Send your report on three students you have taught. Assessment takes about two weeks.

What certification asks of you

The certification is awarded once the requirements below are complete. Enrolling and watching the lessons do not award it on their own.

  1. Complete Module 1 and all of Module 2, with the daily practice and the workbook exercises.
  2. Take your two individual 90-minute sessions with Audrey: the first after the sequencing practicum of Chapter 4, the second after your first session with a report student.
  3. Teach three students. Each practices for seven days, followed by a call one week later.
  4. Write your report on your work with all three students. Allow about six hours of work.

Your certification is issued by Audrey Favreau. Yoga Alliance does not issue it, and the pathway does not lead to RYT 200 registration. The 60 hours provide 60 Yoga Alliance continuing education hours through Audrey Favreau, YACEP.

Completing the 60-hour certification also gives you the opportunity to be listed in the Restorative Yoga Teachers Directory at restorativeyogateachers.com, where Audrey is one of the designated teachers authorized to certify Restorative Yoga teachers.

Who it is for

Is this training for you?

It is designed first for yoga teachers who want to deepen their own practice and learn to teach rest with a method they can explain. No previous experience of Restorative Yoga is needed: the pathway begins with Module 1.

  • You teach yoga and want to add restorative classes to your timetable, with a clear structure behind them.
  • Your yoga teacher training covered Restorative Yoga in an hour or a weekend, and you want to learn to teach it in depth.
  • You have practiced Restorative Yoga from books, videos or workshops, and want the reasons underneath what you do.
  • You want to work individually with students, with the intake interview and the adaptations that go with it.

You’ll practice the supported poses yourself before teaching three students and writing a report on your work with them.

Other backgrounds

Therapists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, midwives and other care professionals can take the full pathway and use the setups and adaptations in their own practice, within the scope of their profession.

Module 1 has no prerequisite. It is also open to committed practitioners who do not teach yoga.

Joining and teaching

To receive Audrey’s 60-hour Restorative Yoga teaching certification, you complete both modules and the required teaching report.

The certification covers the teaching of Restorative Yoga. It does not replace a general yoga teacher qualification or a qualification as a health professional.

Already completed Module 1, or trained with Judith Hanson Lasater, Lizzie Lasater or Adelene Cheong? Write to [email protected] before you enroll: a module equivalence may let you start directly with Module 2.

What participants say

Reviews from Audrey’s teacher trainings.

A much deeper level of relaxation

Isabella, Austria

Audrey was able to translate science into common day language so that I could follow easily. The poses were very relaxing and a big revelation for me. I have done teacher training on restorative yoga already but this course is on a much deeper level of relaxation.

The finesse I learned from Judith Hanson Lasater

Peggy, the Netherlands

I really enjoy your way of teaching, not finding very many teachers that work with the finesse I learned from Judith Hanson Lasater.

A journey of awareness inside the body

Ginevra, osteopath

I had forgotten how much this work is first of all a journey of awareness inside the body. I still feel the effects of the practice, and of the space and the silence that opened in me. I am still practising, with enthusiasm. Audrey is extremely competent, professional and attentive, always ready to give advice or personal feedback. I am looking forward to continuing.

The best training I have taken part in

Silvia, Italy

The training is very well structured, the materials are impeccable and the teaching is of a high standard. Audrey is a teacher of a very high level: always there, patient, understanding and professional, with an answer and a solution for everyone. Without a doubt the best training I have taken part in. I recommend it without hesitation.

Simple and still deep

Francesca, Italy

I really appreciated the content of the modules and Audrey’s approach. She is a very competent and precise teacher. The theory and the practice are developed in a way that is simple and still deep, and being able to go back to the recordings is very useful. I warmly recommend this training.

I had my doubts about learning online

Alessandra, Italy

I have just finished the training and I am glad to share what I think. The experience was complete, in the theory as much as in the practice. I had my doubts about learning online, and Audrey’s professionalism made it work at a high level. I felt followed and guided by a real professional. The materials are many and easy to reach over time, so you can go back to the content and the poses and refine each asana. Thank you.

The best organised online training I have taken

Roberta, Italy

It is the best organised online training I have taken part in so far, and the fact that it stays available for several years is a considerable added value.

Why study with Audrey?

Audrey Favreau has trained Restorative Yoga teachers since 2015. You can find teachers Audrey has certified on her website.

She came to this practice in 2012, in Bali, after years of looking for a way to relax that lasted longer than an afternoon. Twenty minutes in a supported pose gave her what nothing else had, and that daily practice still shapes her days.

She is one of three teachers designated by Judith Hanson Lasater to certify in the Relax and Renew® lineage, alongside Judith and Lizzie Lasater, who certify directly.

Her teaching brings together supported practice, functional anatomy and an understanding of the nervous system.

Audrey is the author of The Teacher’s Guide to Restorative Yoga, published by North Atlantic Books, with a foreword by Lizzie Lasater.

François Raoult

“I wholeheartedly recommend Audrey Favreau. She brilliantly completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with me in Brussels and went on to study with leading teachers in deep relaxation, including Judith Hanson Lasater. Her ability to adapt postures therapeutically and intelligently, with a deep understanding of anatomy, makes her a trusted and skilled expert. Her recent book is a valuable contribution to the global growth of Restorative Yoga.”

What graduates have put into practice

Two graduates of the 60-hour certification, first taught in French and Italian, have applied the training in their professional settings.

  • Ginevra is an osteopath. She took the sixty hours to deepen her clinical work, and she now uses Restorative Yoga regularly with her patients.
  • Cécile is a psychologist. With the agreement of her team, she ran sessions in a day hospital for people in work-related distress. In her certification report she noted what the participants said afterwards: more rested, less back pain, and a bubble of calm.

Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask before they enroll.

  • Do I need to be a yoga teacher?

No. There is no prerequisite for Module 1, which is also open to care professionals and committed practitioners. The pathway is designed first for yoga teachers, and Module 2 is built around teaching: sequencing, adapting, guiding and running a private session. Care professionals use it within the scope of their own practice.

  • When do the modules open?

Module 1 opens the day you enroll. Module 2 opens in May 2027 for everyone enrolled in the 60-hour certification. The months in between are for the daily practice of Module 1.

  • How long do I have access, and at what pace do I study?

Three years for each module, counted from the day it opens to you: the day you enroll for Module 1, and its release in May 2027 for Module 2, or your enrollment date if you join later. Everything is self-paced: the six weeks of Module 1 are a suggested rhythm, and you can spread your study across your year.

  • What props do I need?

A full list is taught, and the alternatives are given inside each setup, at the moment you would need them. What matters is the shape, the symmetry and the comfort you create with what you have. The full list is a yoga mat, two bolsters, four blocks, four bricks, six to eight blankets, two or three eye pillows, two straps, one or two chairs, a sandbag, and a wall you can put your legs up against.

  • Are there live sessions?

Yes, your two individual sessions of ninety minutes with Audrey are live, by video, and you book them when you are ready. There are no group sessions: all the lessons are prerecorded, with no fixed dates.

  • How long do I have to complete the certification?

Both individual sessions must take place within 12 months of Module 2 becoming available to you. If you enroll before its May 2027 release, you have until the end of May 2028. Your certification report is due within four months of finishing Module 2. These deadlines are separate from your three years of access to the content.

  • What do I have to do to be certified?

Complete Module 1 and all of Module 2, take your two individual sessions, then send a report on three students you have taught, each practicing for seven days with a follow-up call a week later. Allow about six hours for the report. Assessment takes about two weeks. Once you hold the certification, it allows you to teach Restorative Yoga classes; watching the recordings alone does not.

  • How does the 60-hour certification relate to Yoga Alliance?

The 60-hour pathway leads to Audrey Favreau’s Restorative Yoga Teacher certification, which Yoga Alliance does not issue. It provides 60 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours (CEUs) through Audrey Favreau, YACEP, and Module 1 alone provides 20. Graduates of the 60-hour certification also have the opportunity to be listed in the Restorative Yoga Teachers Directory at restorativeyogateachers.com.

  • How can I pay, and can I get a refund?

In one payment of €1,090, or in four monthly payments of €279, €1,116 in total. Module 1 opens immediately after payment. Enrollment is final and non-refundable, except where the law gives you a right of withdrawal. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom and enroll as a private individual, you have 14 days from your purchase to withdraw: write to [email protected] within that time and you will be refunded within 14 days. This right does not apply if you enroll for your professional activity, for example as a yoga teacher with a registered business. The full conditions are in our Terms and Conditions. To see the platform first, book a discovery call with Audrey.
